On the 9th September 2010, FASfacts commemorated International FAS Day in the Northern Cape Province for the first time in history. This year’s event was held at the Progress Civic Hall in Upington.
2010 so far has been an extraordinary year not only for South Africans and also for FASfacts. Not only did SA host a successful FIFA Soccer World Cup, but also are we very proud of opening FASfacts offices in Upington this year.
As with the Western Cape, our theme for 2010’s International FAS Day was “Help Them Reach their Goals – Prevent FAS”. Our strategic partnerships with the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund and South African Breweries enabled us to hand over dozens of rugby, soccer and netballs to schools from within the Northern Cape.
Our very important guest, Ms Hazel Jenkins, who is the Premier of the Northern Cape Province, also helped to make this day extra special and memorable. We would like to extend our thanks to her, the NLDTF ‘s Chikey Moffet and SAB’s Neo Sephoti for their inspiring speeches and everyone else who attended the event in Upington.
